After the grueling work in preparing for the presidential visit, Ambassador Bayani Mangibin hosted a dinner at his residence last July 18, 200 in gratitude for all those who helped in making the occasion a success.

A whimsical evening it was, as everybody came in casual wear- a great contrast to the previous day’s gathering where everyone practically sweated in their very formal national costumes. Those who can and those who dared, joined in the fun, belting song after song, from the Video-Karaoke placed for entertainment.

ImageThe members of the Filipino Community Organization in Libya [FILCOL] were there to assist the ambassador who was quite alone as his beautiful wife, Madame Carmen happened to be in the Philippines for a visit.

Aleli Uson, the tall and lovely president of FILCOL, with Ali, her fiancé, was busily directing the table arrangements together with Tessa, the better half of the pastoral team leader of Couples for Christ, Reinier Turqueza. Ludovico & Necy Macavinta, husband and wife team, were in charge of the sumptuous feast.

Individually and in groups, the who’s who of Tripoli came, like Ramon Galang of LCM, Tess Orodio of the Maltese embassy, Romy Borja of Adwoc, Cesar Victa and Andy Ong of Vamed.

Likewise, Weng Ormenita, Merlie Gumus, Bobby and Elly Abella of First Engineering, Lorna Mendoza of Al Gala Hospital, Lito and Wilma Agriam of ENI Co. & Ltd. with son Allan, Gene Avila of the Diabetic Hospital, Danny and Gloria Huerto of the Italian Embassy.

Image Completing the group were Glen and Fe Villagracia of the South African Embassy, Amor Ramos of Al Khadra Hospital, Fidel and Bless Losloso of Falcon SA, Exequel Masucal also of Falcon SA, Gabby & Vilma Guillemer of Christian Oil Drilling Services.


And Mr. & Mrs. Virgilio Manahan. Honey Sola of First Engineering came with mom Bong Camina.

The Gargaresh community was represented by George & Arlene Mayo, Nick & Emily Abarquez, Noel & Carmen Almazan, and Nato & Junjie Maputi, The Furnaj community came in the persons of Dr. Cory Moreno, Kim Marcelino, Nani Camama, Aga khan Ali, Amy Abilgos, Casim & Ricon Ampuan, Joan, Jet, Joy, Gigi and Daryl.

The Philippine Community School teachers came in full force led by their energetic Principal, Ms. Aleth Ramirez.

ImageThe Tajoura contingent was represented by Bennie Bruno, Ruth Burbon, Fred Martinez, Sherwin Salvador, Edgar Sincioco, and Joe Cacal. Zawia community representatives were Josie Soriano, Mona Magondacan, Ching Tagoranao, and Muhaynin Paniorotan with his wife. Members of the 11th June community came with Manas & Vicky Piathong, and some nurses Imelda Jumarari, Espie Balbuena, Jean Dalingding and Jane Madamba-Puse.

The event was graced by the presence of Admin. Marianito Roque of OWWA and Consul General Sahid Glang with his lovely wife, Mendy, newly arrived from Cairo, Egypt..

ImageThe Philippine Overseas labor Office – Overseas Workers Welfare Administration [POLO-OWWA] and the embassy personnel were there, most notably, Labor Attache Jaime Jimenez, WelOf Nasser Mustafa and his lady, Mdme. Apsa, Vice Consul & Third Secretary Mary Jennifer Dingal with her husband, Manny and Cory Ilustre, Thea Rana-Nabo, Joseph de Leon, Awal Ajanti , Abdulaziz Ating, Munir Sarail & wife, Hernila and Philip Aronica, the longest serving embassy staff in Tripoli.

The good looking Carlo Lorenzo of GMA7, joined in the photo sessions though he still found time to ask whether here in Tripoli we are affected by the trouble brewing between Israel and Lebanon. Doubtless, he realized that though it is a cause for concern, at the moment everyone was having a wonderful time.

Miranda de Quiros was present with the crew of ABS-CBN. While the crew of GMA 7, were busily interviewing people one of whom was Pastor Jack Gayoso of the JLWF who came with members of his community.
